The main purpose of the research laboratory is to facilitate the support for on-going research. It provides services in product development. Research Laboratory is located in Room No. Secondly, the research laboratory also uses various modern equipment and facilities of departmental labs as per the requirement of project.

Robotics Lab:

Secondly, the modern equipment and facilities of departmental labs are always made available to research scholars.

Research Policy

The research and development cell was established in the year 2012 to promote research activities of the faculty members, scholars and students of the college. The R&D cell was setup with the objectives of developing the strategic plan for scientific and technology research which includes supervision, execution of new research, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, academic research collaboration with national and international institution/ Universities, Government/ private industry, government funded/ private funded projects that results in the development of new or existing products, process or thesis, there by publication, IPR and transfer of technology.

Dean (Research & Consultancy) will advise the Director in the matter related to:

  • Frame rules for industrial sponsored research and consultancy.
  • Create and maintain database regarding faculty expertise.
  • Facilitate through R&D office faculty in procuring equipments necessary to conduct research/consultancy work, recruitment of project staff.
  • Dean (Research & Consultancy) will chair the committee meetings of the evaluation of papers submitted or to be submitted to the conferences/seminar by the faculty members.

Rajarshi Shahu College OF Engineering, Pune (RSCOE) is committed to serve the society by conducting research with the national and international standards. RSCOE creates an open platform to foster research culture and to pursue scholarly research activities. The researchers will abide by the research policy of the Institute in accordance with the two key principles namely, Quality and Ethics.

Academic Research

    Rules for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master of Engineering (M.E.) by research is given as below :
  • Candidates should enroll and register at RSCOE on getting provisional registration letter from Savitribai phule Pune University (SPPU). For full time scholars, every day attendance is preferred.
  • Candidates should present his/her progress of research in the review meeting once in six months during 3rd week of Jan /July and submit the Half Yearly Progress Review Report (HYPRR) in the prescribed format to the department in which they have registered. The schedule for the review meeting would be prepared and announced by the concerned department.
  • The faculty after the award of Ph.D., shall get the guide ship. A supervisor, at any point of time, can guide 8 scholars at the maximum (including joint supervisor-ship). However, the number of full time scholars to the supervisors can be limited by the institution time to time based on the infrastructure availability. Prior approval / permission should be obtained when there arises a need to guide more than the stipulated number of scholars under extraordinary circumstances.
  • Research methodology course work have included in the Post Graduate curriculum.
  • The Supervisors shall endorse the candidates to publish their research work. The candidate shall publish their research paper in reputed (HCI/Scopus/ SCI/SCI-E/ESCI, Indian Citation Index) indexed conferences / Workshops / Journals) after obtaining formal permission from the Supervisor. The form should enclose both the paper and the plagiarism report of the paper. Only after checking for Plagiarism, the Research supervisor can sign the form and permit the candidate to submit the paper to the journal.
  • The research scholar shall submit a copy of Ph.D. thesis to the College Library on successful completion of the Viva-Voce.
Sponsored Research
Recruitment of a project staff:
  • All the appointments related to projects (Junior research fellow/Senior research fellow/Research Assistants/Institutional Fellow) will be contractual and on the basis of consolidated monthly emoluments prescribed by the Sponsoring Agency or the institute.
  • The tenure of appointment of a project staff will be for the duration of the project.
  • The Project staff shall execute a contract agreement on non-judicial stamp paper of value at least Rs. 100/- at the time of joining. The contract may be terminated by either side (Staff or R&D Unit) by giving three months notice or three months consolidated emoluments in lieu of the notice.
  • The selection of project staff shall normally be made as per the guidelines provided by the sponsoring agency and with the approval of Principal through the Dean (R&D).
  • The project staff may be allowed to register for Full-time MTech(By Research)/Ph.D programme, if he/she fulfills all the requirements prescribed by the Institute.
Plagiarism Check
  • All research supervisor recognized by SPPU, PUNE login ID for online access to TURNITIN Plagiarism check software by Centre for Research, SPPU, Pune .
  • Research Scholar should submit the copy of TURNITIN plagiarism check report to the concern supervisor for a paper before submitting to the journal/Conference.
  • The research scholar Synopsis/ Thesis should accompany TURNITIN plagiarism report while submitting same to Center for Research, SPPU, PUNE .
  • Maximum of 20% of similarity is allowed for Ph.D. Thesis, Synopsis and Post Graduate Thesis
Collaborative Research Project
  • The faculty shall apply for funding support from the Govt / Industries, to do Sponsored/ Collaborative research based on the call for proposals from the agencies.
  • A Research Advisory Committee (RAC) / Research and Development Committee (R&D) shall be constituted that comprises of Principal Investigator, Subject Expert, Dean, HOD for proposal assessment.
  • The PRC shall forward the proposals upon review to the Director for approval towards the submission of proposals to the funding agencies
  • The Principal Investigator shall then submit the application along with supporting documents based on the approval to the Funding Agencies Website.
  • The PIs shall create a new Head of A/c and prepare a Stock Register with proper entries of purchase of Recurring and Non-Recurring items upon sanction of the project by the funding agency.
  • The PIs shall appoint a Project fellow (if applicable) by means of advertising and then selection shall be done by conducting the interview based on the budget approval of the funding agency. The interview panel should be constituted with one external expert member along with PI and HOD.
  • The PIs shall attend the Progress Review Meeting (Once in six months) conducted by the Progress Review Committee that comprises of Principal, Dean-R&D and expert members. The PIs shall submit the Half yearly Progress Review Report to the Dean concerned.
  • The PIs shall prepare Project Completion Report on completion of the project duration according to the guidelines of the funding agency.
  • The PIs shall prepare the Utilization Certificate (UC) duly signed by the Auditor.
  • The PIs shall submit the Project Completion Report, Utilization Certificate and Publications / patent list to the Sponsoring agency through the Dean and the Principal
Financial Support & Accounting
  • Within the framework of a sponsored project, PIs shall be permitted to have consultancy fee/honorarium if the sponsor so approves.
  • Depending on availability of funds under Travel head and with the approval of the Principal, expenses (TA, DA, Registration Fee, etc.) for presenting papers in National Conferences and International Conferences in fields relevant to the project shall be given to PIs from the project fund and research activities.
  • On recommendations of PIs and with the approval of Principal, project staff and students in the projects may be permitted to avail seed money. If funds are available under Travel head, then TA, DA and Registration Fee support may be provided
